About this collection

This a collection of digitized newspaper clippings from the Carroll University Archives. The collection consists of newspaper articles from various papers and magazines over the years that pertain to Carroll students, faculty, staff, and events.

The Clipping Collection originally came to the Carroll Archives from three major sources. The oldest clippings (published between 1880 and 1974) came from a donation of five notebooks collected by Lillian Davis, the curator of the historical collection of the Wisconsin Synod of the United Presbyterian Church. The Milwaukee Public Library donated another batch from Milwaukee papers dating between 1943-1978. The third collection came from the Carroll Public Relations Office, and these were collected by a clippings service in the 1970s.

After these three donations were assembled into one collection in 1983, the library began clipping Carroll-related news articles from Waukesha and Milwaukee papers to grow the collection in the effort to document Carroll College, now Carroll University, history and news. The clippings collection is by no means an exhaustive history of Carroll, but provides a glimpse at Carroll's history through the years.

Use: Due to copyright restrictions, the images of the newspaper articles are only available on campus. Any commercial use is strictly prohibited without written permission from the institution. Please contact the Carroll Archives at archives@carrollu.edu for copies of articles or to view the originals.

The collection is text-searchable and will continue to expand.
