PiG amma Mu On April 20, 1929, the students and faculty of Carroll College organized the Beta chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, national social science fraternity. The Greek letters. Pi Gamma Mu, stand for "students of social science." Out¬ standing students in the department of social science are eligible for member¬ ship. The purpose of this organization is to uphold and sponsor at Carroll the ideals of scholarship, scientific attitudes and methods, and social service in relation to all social problems. This year, nine new members were elected into membership. These mem¬ bers are Clifford Goerke, Ruth Ganfield, Madeleine Hopkins, Pearl Mc¬ Cutchin, Alan Locke, Marie Rabusitz, and Thelma Worthington, Donald Kehl is the only member in school who was elected last year. The members in faculty are Dr, W. A. Ganfield, Dr. J, W. Taylor, Dr. M, H. Mendenhall, Miss Lamoreaux, and Prof, Banting. Of the active members, Pearl McCutchin was selected as assistant in the department of history. This position was held last semester by Norma Reidelbach, [117]
